Are you fans of the Modernist Journals Project?  If not, you should be!  The Modernist Journals Project is the brainchild of scholars from Brown University and the University of Tulsa and its mission is to make freely accessible to the public high quality digital editions of important Modernist journals. It just so happens that issues from the George Peabody Library’s The Smart Set will become part of this esteemed group!  Of course, in order to make this happen, the issues need to undergo some light conservation work.  Our merry band of student employees have been busy removing ephemera from the issues and are now in the process of removing 100 year-old staples from each issue with various implements, including oyster shuckers!  Of course, a student cannot live via oyster shuckers alone, so let’s just say they’ve been having a blast perusing the issues, especially for the vintage ads.
